About Us

James Plunket is the founder of the Social Investment Group.

Working closely with local authorities, public health teams and clinical commissioning groups, James uses established networks, creativity and commercial-mindedness to connect public service needs with socially-motivated investment and innovative operating models. Together, this approach delivers cost savings to commissioners,
long-term contracts to VCS partners, financial returns to impact investors and sustainable health and social outcomes to individuals, families and whole communities.

His expertise in building cross-sector collaborations is exemplified in these typical projects:

  • Developing a Social Impact Bond (SIB) to reduce the growing number of patients developing type 2 diabetes.
  • Developing a SIB to reduce the number of children and young people developing eating disorders.
  • Building the business and impact investment case for maintaining universal and preventative services in children’s centres and early intervention hubs, all of which are at risk from government funding cuts.
  • Building the business and impact investment case for using “the arts” as non-clinical health and social care interventions for people of all ages experiencing a wide range of physical and mental health conditions.

James is also a Social Business Advisor for the Social Stock Exchange.
